When a new social media platform approached me to create a set of original characters and animated stickers, I saw the perfect opportunity to explore something playful, unexpected, and a little bit unhinged — the everyday humor and quirks of Hong Kong people.
Although the platform later paused development due to funding issues, this project became one of my favorite creative exercises. I designed 6 characters - flawed, funny, and fantastically relatable- each inspired by familiar personalities we all recognize.
Each character was developed in 2D design, GIF animation, and later reimagined in clean, collectible-style 3D renders to show their full personality in a modern, toy-like aesthetic.
(From Left to Right)
Scrollio
A socially awkward tech-addict whose posture has permanently surrendered to gravity and always tapping furiously.
Overtime Owen
The exhausted office warrior, Emotion? None. Deadline? Always!
Dragon Bro
A tough-looking fruit-stall uncle with a heart softer than tofu. Intimidating chest tattoo, but cries during Korean dramas.
Handsome Hank
The self-loving peacock king. Hair height: 12 cm. Confidence level: immeasurable.
Miss Slay
Drama Queen, always camera-ready girl.
Pea
Pure, cheerful, and believes everyone deserves a hug- even Dragon Bro.
